Mirror Mirror On The Desk

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Yesterday was such an emotional draining day, if I were to sum up. I however stole some time to visit my favorite spa after I had finished battling with paperworks and procedures and what not. I didn't do any sauna or massage or milk bath, mind you, just a routine facial for my chronic synus. What a relief to have finally done it after much delays on my side! Previously I would rather redo my hijab or make-up (if any) in a vacant place next to the treatment room but yesterday I just couldn't care less. Instead I just lazily slumped myself in the chair and mirrored everything from my phone's camera. Just did the hijab and nothing else, knowing fully well that I would arrive home almost Maghrib, depending on the traffic flow, of course. Who says you need any mirror on the wall? No one, right? But wait, who says you even need a mirror to begin with, when you can place a camera on the desk facing you? That's what we call technology.....

Cotton Modern Kurung On Tuesday

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Yesterday was a cold Monday and I was talking about none other than the weather, dearest. All the way to and from Melaka was such a torture in the car that I had to reduce the air-cond temperature. Even when I dismounted at a Petronas petrol pump to refill gas and reload touch and go card it was so windy and freeeeeeezing, which was weird in Malaysia's January weather. And at the designated destination, which was the land office at the Menara Persekutuan, Melaka it was equally windy. The sun shone ever so brightly above my head, nonetheless. That at least very much Malaysian weather.  Anyways, here's me clad in modern kurung from cotton. I decided to snap a standard "toilet selfie" as people call it at the petrol pump, looking at the large mirror inside the toilet. Just nice to come up with this entry in the first place. Self-explanatory, sort of. Zooming in and out.. And this picture shows how I had to blanket myself wit...

When Mommy Wears Laced Baju Kurung

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. The fact that I have grown fonder of laced baju kurungs shows how aged I've become, now haven't I? ^_^ At least that's how I take it. In fact I'm planning to get a few more pieces throughout this year. What a plan! Won't be much of a pleasant thing for storage coordination, but of course. We'll see how it goes, though. Here's me clad in golden brown laced modern kurung at Jovianina's wedding reception in the Shangri-la, KL: And come to think of it, I guess it would be nice to go to Bandung or Jakarta again some time, so that I could get my eyes rock and roll roaming the houses of lace there! Meanwhile, let's just keep living in good faith, shall we? ;)  Thanks anyway for dropping by. Take care, dearest! Assalamu'alaikum. - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

Sweet Victory In Monochrome World

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Of all days, I was having fever on The Day. Thank God I still had the chance to breathe live and enjoy it, nonetheless. Oh, ya! I fell asleep on the chair some fat 20 minutes or so during the ceremony, how awesome was that? I had earlier on set the clock at 5 am and hit the road to Shah Alam by 7.20 am to avoid massive jam and make it on time for the function. Again I chose to wear a white bawal hijab styled in shawl, by the way. With the embroideries purposely folded at the front.  Here's me with eyes wide open, thanks to the unceremonious sleep beforehand.  And apparently a friend of mine whom I call Kak Sham was there in the conference hall. She was such a darling and took pictures of me on and off the stage. Precious moments duly captured... Alhamdulillah. It took me ages to get to this, actually and that explains the smiling face despite the fever. I was amongst the 33 candidates who had passed the strict interview to become a syar...

Gondola Winter Ride In Venice

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's a romantic city surrounded by water, which has inspired many imitations throughout the globe, gondola inclusive (with the signature black and white striped long sleeve shirt). Even when the Wonder Pets went to safe a baby animal in Venice, they rode the gondola if I was not mistaken. Anyways, we did just that the 2nd day there first thing in the morning. Italian guys are so good looking, really. And smartly dressed. Take this gondola guy, for example. See what I mean? In winter they would wrap the similar striped muffler around their necks, so you can't see the usual shirts. Well, gondola rides would be just as romantic even with caftans on, don't you think? But for those who don't share the same view, such rides would be dead boring because we would be taken in slow motion ride at the back of the old historical buildings before going off to the open sea. I found it astonishing in every way, especially to have witnessed how ever...
