A Note To Old Self

Image
Assalamu’alaikum. If I were to send a note to my old self, it would be as follows: Hey, life is not always a box of chocolate that you’ll never know what to get. I mean, they even sell a helluva box of the same shape, size and flavour nowadays, right?  So there will be times you can calculate risks just twice as much that you can’t.  Some shitty things won’t just disappear out of your life unless you do the spring cleaning every now and then, which begins with your own heart. Start caring more about yourself and oh, please nurture your mind with utmost love and affection because babe, you deserve it!   Yeah, keep smiling ever so sweetly no matter what, but just cry when YOU deem necessary. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing will stay, not even November (or whichever month, for that matter) rain. Even if you can’t spot any rainbow right after the rain, it doesn’t mean that it’s not there. You just don’t see it yet. So don’t be too harsh on yourself, darling, Allah has been watching a

Denim Skirts and I

Image
Assalamu’alaikum. I remember reading somewhere quite sometime ago about long denim skirts belong to grannies. Well, then maybe I’ve been training a little too hard to become one. I mean, that’s basically my uniform since time immemorial, so to speak. It’s even safe to claim that I never gave a toot whether it was not trendy back then nor it has somewhat become a thing nowadays. I’m happier of course now that I can easily place an order or two or three or more at the click of my finger.  Come to think of it, my fashion sense remains stagnant and evergreen, maybe? Old-fashion? Ah, tak pe je lah!  Just for your reference, the same persons with different timeline: Looking at these pictures brings tears to my eyes heart and soul. Anyhow, mom dearest remains the same albeit the age factor, still your Tak Pe Je from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Still trying not to skip updating this blog too long, still loving you with utmost sincerity ever.  And I will always love denim skirts forever more. Signi

Skirt Extenders

Image
Assalamu’alaikum. The older I get, the more concerns I received from the Shariah Compliance Board at home about my attires, can you imagine? Not that I’m complaining or anything, knowing fully well that it’s for my own ‘benefits’ but it’s sure quite unnerving sometimes. I mean, they (referring to the ‘board committees’) don’t normally use friendly tone when disapproving, you know. Like when I was asked to change my ‘tight’ A-shape long skirt in cream by my husband (one of the 2 committees) before going off to Johor not so long ago, for example. Even the other committee (mom) was appalled then, ko rasa?  After a while, he explained slowly in the car that the skirt was ‘revealing’ because of the colour tone and the fabric, too much concentrating on my figure. I said to my defence that my blouse was already covering my hips, but apparently still not decent enough. Reason being “my hips need more covering than that”, due to the size. I understand exactly what this was all about, apart from

Fazbulous

Image
Assalamu’alaikum. Printed bawal hijabs have been duly restored by the gorgeous Fazura and I’ve been rooting for her from the start. Not so much of floral person, I opt for different patterns in the collection but looking at how fabulous Faz is, all patterns are just beautiful. I guess that’s the power of celebrities, we can’t blame them if they put some pretty high price next to their names.  Wearing square printed scarves like this sure brings back good old days on the surface. You simply can’t go wrong with this look, just smile away and make your day hell of a fazbulous one!  Let’s do this right. ~ Nai @ Tak Pe Je.

Don’t Overkill

Image
Something rarely worn sure gives an aura of freshness, like this modern kurung that I love so dearly.  Just a good idea for a wedding reception. You just can’t go wrong with less is more look, right? Be Ravishing, but never overkill. Unless you’re the bride, but of course. ~ Nai @ Tak Pe Je.

Trust Is A Fragile Thing

Image
Assalamu’alaikum. Do you notice how fragile trust is? Once broken you’ll never get to fix it ever again, not in technical sense nor literally, hell nope! And should you’ve  been given yet another chance after another by the person whose trust you keep breaking, you should brace yourself harder. Why, you might ask? Because that person is actually giving himself (or herself) some big fat obese opportunities to make things work, before walking away for good. It’s a choice wisely made with some foolish hearts, perhaps but hey, only fools rush in to look smart!  So, take a peek  before you leap! ~ Nai @ Tak Pe Je.
