Taste of Thai ~ Sydney Road, Melbourne Halal Eatery

Assalamu'alaikum. We cooked while in Melbourne this time, coz we stayed at a friend's house there. But towards the end of the stay we finally checked in an authentic Thai restaurant owned by a Singaporean Muslim and run by a bunch of Muslim Siamese staffs. We found out from a Monash Uni student, Ta, from Southern Thai who has been part-timing at the Taste of Thai (yeah, that's the restaurant's name, by the way) that the chefs are from Bangkok. Hence, the authentic Thai cuisine. Simple maths. ^^

Located at Sydney Road, it's a place you can't afford to miss at any cost whatsoever because it opens daily from 10.30am - 10.30pm. For a neighbourhood that closes mostly at 5.30pm, you can't afford to miss this superb halal restaurant! You won't even have to wait more than 20 minutes for your order to be served right before your eyes, dearest friends, unlike any other Thai restaurants - in Klang Valley or Hat Yai/Phuket/Krabi.

For the list of mouth watering menu, do check THIS out! As for us, here's what we ordered:

Deep-fried Fish with Sweet Sour Sauce

Brocolli and friends

Prawn and friends

Rice, of course.

And this crazily delicious Fried Noodles - that we ordered extra 2 to be taken away home.

The price range is AUD 70 - 100++ for 6 or 7 pax depending on your order, of course - which is very reasonable and competitive, yeah that's the better phrase: competitive. Should you happen to be in Melbourne for any reason whatsoever, especially for vacation, you might want to reserve some Australian Dollars to please your stomach at this fine dining place. It's gonna be worth every penny, really!

And for the record, I am now a big fan. The taste is by all means Thai but more. Yeah, more. It's more like a marriage between Chinese and Thai cuisine, especially the noodles. Argh.. Lapar la pulak!
