The Dots In My Life, Mom To The Rescue

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. I attended a packed and tensed professional course on Friday recently, which had drained me both mentally and physically. Like, all four corners of the huge hall were hitting me bit by bit - minute after minute, hour after hour. Boy, I must have aged ten times older that day! I somehow managed to stay alert right until the last slot in the evening but almost lost it at the very end of the closing ceremony. Thank God the guest of honour didn't have much intention to lengthen his speech more than necessary.  Anyways,  that day I wore a black and white polka dots kurung Pahang paired with white shawl. The dots seemed to represent the uncertain links in my career, the missing ports in my life. Well, sort of. That much the course had affected me in loads of ways. Hence, the emotional drain.  And for the first time in a long time my heart was calling for rescue,"Mom... I'm tired!!!" Yeah, we adults still crave for moms.. - Nai at

That Dreading, Painstaking Guilt of A Mom

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. This past few weeks have been the busiest time ever, really. That I just practically froze some moments and took Junior out for dinner, you know, that pang of guilts each working mom share in common. I didn't have time to change - didn't even had the guts to bathe but rather just washed and freshened my face up before Maghrib prayer. On I went for dinner afterwards with the very same outfit I wrapped myself in from the morning. Time Is Black Gold, the Oil and Gas Value.  And yeah, I think I have somewhat improved a great deal in styling the voluminous kinda of hijab. Gotta learn some more, though. Anyways, the speed and record time of getting ready is everything I'm looking for right now. So that I can be in loads of places in one single minute, you know. ^_^ Junior isn't used to mummy being too busy, actually. Like: Let daddy get the busiest of his nature, it won't be a problem. Not mummy, she's mine. That sort of po

The KL Sentral Day

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It was a hectic day for me, apparently when I spent most of my time in KL Sentral, back and forth. I literally rushed myself between the central port and my office, commuting to and fro. That's what happens if your assistant is on maternity leave, that is. Thank God I still have my left hand back in the office, Alhamdulillah.  Anyhow, I started to try wrapping my shawl in quite a different style, in case you haven't noticed. It's been awhile, yeah I know but this kinda style requires some sort of practice and hence, the delay. I took a close look at how sister Liza Razak has been wearing her shawls and a few you.tube videos from other sisters, especially that of Zukreat (Keeping Up With Zukreat) and went bold enough to finally try it out myself. It would have been much easier with an oversized cotton shawl, I guess but I really wanted to wear this cotton-lined chiffon shawl that I got at Hong Kong's Ladies Market recently. By the

When You Feel Like Caffein Yourself

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. So i did feel like a caffein myself today, at least that much my golden brown long satin shawl from Nadia hijabs had made me feel somehow today.  And trust me, when you're in such mood, it's somewhat normal if you can actually finish off the entire long mug of hot caffe latte. PLUS the cranberry scone, mind you! Oh my! I still can't believe it! Well, calling it a day at 6pm today after a high spirited appointment in KL Sentral,  I took the lrt and headed home feeling like a champ. May be for finishing off that latte. May be for concluding a meeting with quite a satisfying impact. May be that, yeah. Or may be not. Anyhow,  I enjoyed my working hours today. - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

Long Satin Shawls ~ A Personal Review

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's been awhile since I last fell in love with hijabs, really really seriously in love, I mean. Until these long satin shawls from Nadia Hijabs came into my life. ^_^  I practically wanna have all colors available except for black, coz I've got too many black hijabs under my bed in my closet in my head!  Anyways, these beauties are measured 0.56 metre wide and 2.0 metre long (giving you necessary coverage), of Dubai silky satin. Unlike most satin materials, they are not over shiny and less 'slippery' and hence, makes them very easily wearable without much mess whatsoever. They won't fall off your head all of the sudden, so afraid not, dearest..! And at Nadia Hijabs, they are worth MYR35 each exclusive postage. Bargain at your risk, ya.. LOL. Among others, they are of the following colors: They come in quite a number of intoxicating colors to begin with, so behold dear friends! You might just end up melt under your ow

Abaya of The Day ~ Juma'ah Barakah, a flashback

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. This is gonna be a quick Abaya of the Day post, just to share you guys a picture taken after office hour at work yesterday, being the chief of all days, Juma'ah. This abaya was given as a present from Egypt to me a few years back and I used to wear it a lot mostly for tahlil and iftar that I had to attend back then. It's still as good as new - that's what I love about Middle East abayas, really. And the maroon embroidered square hijab used to belong to my mom but since she had come to loving instant hijabs this few years, I asked it from her, rather than just lying in her wardrobe. If you notice, I've been regularly posting entries wearing the same hijab throughout the blog. Anyhow, with less is more tagline, this Abaya of The Day was lightened up by the embroideries on the hijab, I guess. My perfect Juma'ah outfit, it seemed - at least to me, of course. Yeah, that's it for now. Thanks a bunch, dearest for keep coming back her

Satin Shawl, Saree Traditional Kurung & Dinner In Cyberjaya

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. I juz got myself a few satin long shawls from Nadia Hijabs and immediately wore one of them for dinner more than five hours ago. We went to Tuan Haji Shahrin Low's Cyberjaya branch which served us superb Chinese Muslim cuisine. I personally prefer his Ampang branch actually but the one in Cyberjaya is of equivalent standard (didn't have any pictures of the food, sorry..!)  And I had a blast with the dinner attendees, which mattered most. Yeah, I did wear a traditional baju kurung on purpose, especially with the dark olive satin shaŵl in my possession. The kurung, which was from saree has remained to be one of my beloved attire collections that I tend to wear for special occasions (like this one). I wish I had taken loads of solo pictures but yeah, I had been so busy talking and gossiping and catching up things with my dearest friends that it just didn't happen somehow. But at least we did take group pictures, right? Hence, this en

Creep 4eva

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. This is gonna be a leisure quickie.. One of my all-time favorite songs: Creep by Radiohead. Again, those using Apple gadgets might have to view via Photon. And I really wanna watch this french movie called 'And They Lived Happily Ever After' starring my all-time favorite actor, Johnny Depp. Gotta find time to do just that soonest..! That's all for now.. Thanks a bunch for dropping by. Till then, Assalamu'alaikum. - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

OOTD Post ~ Smart Casual Day With Lee, Sugarscarf & Poplook

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's been a while since I did an OOTD post for it's quite edgy to find anybody to snap my photos - not that I've got much time, either. Anyways, it happened yesterday at work after 630pm when I was ready to go home. Smart Casual Day, it seemed, looking at the Lee jeans paired with the mint blouse from the Poplook and the lime yellow shawl from the Sugarscarf . The blouse is fully lined actually, thus you have the option not to wear any other inner but I somehow found the need to do so for extra comfort (read: personal assurance). Here are two pictures taken with this entry in mind.. That's it, dearest. Today I'm all formally dressed in yet another monotone color,  by the way. How about you? Do take care, ya.. And thanks for dropping by. Till then, Assalamu'alaikum. - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

Up Town Boy, Tuna Subway Sandwich & The Animal Kaiser

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. This child of mine is always bored, it seems or may be kids nowadays are like that. This kinda boredom usually becomes uncontrollable comes long holiday and the same goes with weekend plus Malaysia Day on Monday recently. I didn't have the heart to prolong his agony and took him to play his fave game called the Animal Kaiser at the nearest mall.  He has this unspoken schedule before playing that game, i.e. having a half inch of tuna sandwich at Subway. A routine he has never once missed thus far, ever so loyal, eh? Not that he could ever finish the whole sandwich, though. But then again, he would always finish the leftover at the end of the day somehow or rather, when he's back in the house, that is. I guess that has become his sentimental value routine, don't you think? Kids usually tend to do things in recurring patterns to feel belong and secure. Well, there goes nothing, really. Thanks for dropping by. Till then, Assala

Hong Kong City Tour - A Shortcut Trip

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. This time let's talk about Hong Kong City Tour, shall we? We took this 4D3N deal from MAS promotion in the internet, which included the airport transfer to - from the hotel, one deluxe room in the (Kowloon) Regal Oriental Hotel, one day city tour and Disneyland package - altogether ka-chinged the debit card of MYR2k+++ when we could have gotten less than MYR2k had we clicked the purchase button a few days earlier. Yeah, in the internet a few days delay does give a major difference. Lessons learned, of course.. But heck, we didn't have enough budget that few earlier days! ^_^  Anyways, one of the itineraries was a city tour, which was a shortcut here and there as per the Hong Kong tourist agent in charge, Terry's sole discretion. The coach we were in transported three families including us, two of whom were from the Philipines. Terry's English was thankfully fluent enough to make us understand the gists of what he was saying. He brought us to the o

Addicted To Friendship - No Man Is An Island

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Many married women tend to make a common big mistake i.e. not having some time out with their own sets of friends. That is freakin' important to keep you sane, really, so never outcast yourselves from your lady friends EVER just because you are now married. Catch up with your best friend(s) every now and then, no matter how brief it might be. We're talking about quality here rather than quantity.  You can do quick lunch together, for instance. Like, you've got less than half an hour to even eat anything, so how about ordering juice over a chat? Or catching up with quick wrap up of hot gossips on the way to the airport when all you got was a few brief hours together? That would give you loads and loads of love duly recharged!  Or attending a quick reunion over an eid open house, even if that means you have only got a few secs - just enough to snap some pictures together. Because in the end it's all

The Memory Remains, dear James...

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. You know what? I did attend the Metallica's Concert in Kuala Lumpur last month and was the only one who wore pink that night among those in blacks. Hahaha. Never mind, so long as I was also "the Metallica family", as ever so handsome James Hetfied put it that night. It would have been different had the phenomenal metal band come 10 years ago when I wore black on daily basis. But seriously, I was amazed at mere idea of seeing James, Kirk and Lars live on stage that I literally felt numb and dumbstruck, unblinkingly stared at James and James alone! But Jason was not around so it felt a little bit weird, at least to me. And my being there was too much not to stir up the memories that have always been very much alive deep inside my heart. It was very bitter-sweet especially when they played Wherever I May Roam, Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters. It was so pressing emotionally that I had to close my eyes and hide within my own soul. Only to be all

Roaming Hong Kong Disneyland In Summer

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Perhaps it wasn't quite a good idea to visit Hong Kong early September for the summer would normally shift the air mid-September. However, since that was the only free date that suited our calendar, we didn't have much choice to begin with. We had a good time, though despite the heat especially in the Disneyland Resort. It was very challenging for a hijabi like me to be roaming such an enormous wonderland in such a humid and dry weather, I'm sure you can relate to that. Anyhow, as I said earlier we had a good time and for Junior, he had a blast! We had bought four Halal food coupons from our tourist guide, Terry at HKD60 each, which was da bomb cheaper than what you could get inside the wonderland. We were the first customers apparently and had to wait 15 minutes for the restaurant would only open their meals business at 12pm sharp, no less. After savouring the most awaited lunch, we began our journey by taking a brief raft transfer to Tarza
