When The World Is Out of Colors, Outstand Yours

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. So, it's Thursday and a day before the week ends. I didn't really do much at the office today other than monitoring and coaching, that is. Then off I went to pick my friend up at 2.30 pm and we did a business lunch together. I really look forward to doing this upcoming assignment with her yet again coz together we by far have proved to be quite a team, Insya Allah..     Before I even took the stairs up to the office, I made a point to drop by at Alice's to have my glasses duly fixed. I think I must have fallen asleep with the glasses on one of these days, for they seem to be somewhat uncomfortable to wear. Alice said I looked 'purplish' today, which I think due to the purple pashmina and the pink blouse that I wore and the purple handbag that I carried along. Her remark somehow led me to think that we should outstand our world with colors of the rainbow even if we're trapped in a colorless world. In the end it's our heart that

Classic Means Classy, dear Audrey Hepburn

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's really great to see a great movie a thousand times more, don't you think? And as a hopeless romantic, I would love to recommend Audrey Hepburn's classic, Breakfast at Tiffany's. I just never get tired of that movie, really. Cuteness..!     This song, Moon River is also such a beautiful masterpiece. Of all the versions available, I still prefer this one. The original one. Hope you would like it as well if you haven't already.  - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

Dead Clock & A Complimentary Shawl

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Monday night I got a present from my sis, a maxi shawl with pink backdrop and abstract print. It was a love at first sight, really and I didn't wait any longer to wear it (but of course). So the following day I went to the office putting that very shawl on. The color combination is so soft that I felt like splashing the look of the day with striking green blouse. Electrifying to the mood, really.  Then after looking at the selfie afterwards, I noticed that the clock behind my desk was dead. It was 5.30 in the evening and it showed 7.35 and I have no idea how long it has been dead already. Gotta replace the battery, if that's the problem but replace the whole thing if that's not the case. Thank God it only cost me RM5 at the Ikea.  There goes nothing, really. Thanks anyway for keep coming back, love you loads! Until next time, Assalamu'alaikum. - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

Chaffeuring Monday, Caught Red Handed

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's been awhile since I last chaffeured Junior to and fro school. It felt great, really. So great that I had arrived at the school compound almost 45 minutes earlier, can you imagine? Hahaha. And it wat so hot a day that you can see clearly reflection of some objects on my shades. Wonder what it was, aircond holes or something? And the fact that the outfit from the neck downwards was somewhat over exposed by the ray, evidently hot.  I waited and waited but the boy never turned up, even after it was due. Then I decided to get out of the car and looked for him, with obvious look of concern. He spotted me and almost screamed, "Mummy!"  - with apparent guilt on his face. He was holding an ice-cream, but of course!  I felt sad for I knew he had been very patient not to eat any ice-cream due to his ongoing cough and at the same time due to the fact that I knew for certain his cough would get even worse. Aduhai, anak..!  He was unusual

Latest Online Catch, New Baju Kurung Coming Next!

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. I was just viewing my FB and noticed that my former high school mate had tagged some friends on some particular cotton fabrics. And I just couldn't help ordering a few myself, showing her some love and plus, they really caught my eyes! I just can't wait to send them to my tailor in kampung for my three new modern kurungs. Or may be a combination of old school kurung pesak. Let's just see how things go, ya..! And as you can see, all of them are very feminine and somewhat English-theme, kinda. I'm not very into floral printed fabrics, really except for cotton kurungs. So,  i'm super excited to get jiggy with them..! This soft bluish grey is really a darling! And this one really reminds me of vintage English tea set or bon china, for that matter. As for this one, it's about the stunning backdrop from the very beginning. Awesome! But wait, there's more! Only that this one belongs to my maid, who appa

Sensitive Left Ear

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Junior has been having occasional problem with his left ear since he was 7 years young, more or less. The first time ever was due to the remaining of cotton bud stucked inside, thanks to my then maid and eversince that I have forbidden any non-family member from cleaning his ears. Most of the time it would be me, actually.  Recently I brought him there after some time and it turned out alright, Alhamdulillah. The ENT specialist just cleansed the debris of his left ear and he was good to go. He said that there's nothing much can be done except for constant cleaning every now and then. That if Junior is proven to be allergic to seafood, simply don't take any. I hated the answer and refused to settle for it, would rather try alternative treatment, homeopathy most probably.  It's quite disturbing to think that Junior will be undergoing the same procedure every now and then. Do pray for him, dear friends.  - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

Dressing Down Saturday

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. How's your weekend so far? True to what I had planned, I really made a point of resting well. But still I had to go to shop for groceries, so I didn't just stay at home doing nothing. And earlier on I had even managed to burn some calories on my bike after light breakfast. I decided to dress down and literally grabbed anything that was visible in sight that didn't require any iron pressing and was good to go. Couldn't care less. ^_^  Gonna meet a friend tomorrow actually but yet to be reconfirmed. You guys enjoy the rest of the weekend, ya. And do take care.. Thanks a bunch for dropping by. Assalamu'alaikum. - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

One Hungry Day - Juma'ah Barakah

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's Saturday morning and the birds are chirping their melodies. I wish  I could write a song or paint, so that this moment will somehow be crafted in perpetuity. But yeah, how was your Friday, by the way? Mine was a starving one, if I were to summarize. I took a few sandwiches with eggs for breakfast, though. Quite big breakfast it was, considering how plenty  I actually ate. By the time I accompanied a client for lunch I couldn't even eat any other than the marvelous creme brulee at Pastel.  Then after praying zuhr and catching up with a few errands at work about 3.30pm, I went to park my car at the lrt station and commuted to Ampang Park to see another person, who was supposed to arrive at 4.00pm but only showed up an hour later. Well, an hour or so, by the time of which I was seriously hungry I could barely stand it. I could have just grabbed anything, right? Wrong. I wanted to just go home.. Please let me go home. You know, that kind of feeling w

Best Buy Polka Dot Shawl

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. So I bought three new shawls from Nadia Hijabs, from her clearance stock sale. One of them I wore to work today, a polka dot wide shawl that screamed colors to bits. I didn't have the mood to apply much make ups today, juz kicked off the day with basic powder and pink lipstick. But the striking hijab had come to the rescue, apparently. Phew..! What a tiring day, really..! But somehow everything was worth the extra effort when loads of tugging hard assignments were finally finished. There are still others that need to be done but considering the hardest things had passed, they are less causing me headaches. Ahamdulillah.  Anyways, we're approaching the final day of the week as tomorrow is already Friday. I really look forward to a relaxing weekend, just can't wait for Saturday and Sunday...! You guys do take care and thanks a zillion for dropping by. Till next entry, Assalamu'alaikum. - Nai at Tak Pe Je.

Aloe Vera For Dry or Combination Skin

Image
Assamu'alaikum. I was told by my homoepathy doctor sometime in mid-August that my skin needed some water when I complained about having quite bad dry face each time I went to cold areas (aircond premises or winter places). She recommended me to change my then existing skincare to those with aloe vera essence alongside supplements from Forever Living, which I accorded. As of now I've been using the dehydrating toner, gelly, firming day lotion (moisturizer) and cleanser, which have proved to be darlings in every way. My face is much supple and less dry even in heavily aircond premises. The price is ranging from RM50 onwards each product, which I have to get back to you with the exact ones. In daytime I will apply the toner followed by gelly and firming lotion before applying any makeup and at night I will only apply the toner and the gelly after Isyak prayer.  I really believe in internal and external care when it comes to health and beauty but you have just got to find those

Fighting For The Future

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's been quite a while since I last posted an entry, eh? Yep, been busy myself with loads of things to juggle with. As good as a circumstancial evidence, I've been always seen in black and white lately. So much so that I didn't get to change into other than white hijab, for instance even after office hour (read : Night). The very least that I could do was layering my white blouse with a pashmina to add some color or putting on blue jeans and striking sneakers. Well, I hope I have proved a point somehow. Now you know how bad I need an excuse for not updating this blog. ^_^ Should have opted for much brighter pashmina, but I really felt like using soft color that day. Otherwise looking very formal, in black and white. Anyways, at the airport last two nights when I went rather sporty, I learnt a lesson in a hard way about relationship. It's how bad you want it to work or simply walk off, with a very thin line separating your righ

Sacrifice or Be Sacrificed

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. So Eiduladha has come and gone, as always. Apart from braving traffic jams to and fro kampung, not many of us really breathed the spirit of sacrifice itself. And nobody seemed to really care in the first place. Anyways, this Eiduladha was one heck a trying time to me and my nuclear family. I myself couldn't register just yet what had actually happened, like a blink of an eye, it seemed. Before I knew it, things were too chronic already. I pray that Allah will show me the way to face all this turbulence, Insya Allah.  Meanwhile, how about looking at a few pictures taken on the eid itself, shall we?  I actually had a new kurung modern from the same fabric used to make my son's and his dad's baju melayu but it turned out to be too bling-bling that I decided against wearing it. Thank God that I've been keeping this modern kurung in my closet for quite number of years, which was an awesome match with the guys of my life.

Just Another Phase In Life

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. So they said career is different from job, I have yet to really understand. I've been leading a life that had been chosen for me, so to speak. And just like black and white, I was left with no choice whatsoever. Then I chose to be happy with whatever I had come to live when I was in uni, a choice I'm so thankful to Allah for the strength in so doing. The rest was history, I guess. I've been living a life that my beloved late dad had wanted me to, hopefully he's smiling up there. And hopefully every good deed that I came to uphold, if any will be recorded as amal jariah and hence benefit him a great deal. I'm really emotional today, in case you haven't noticed. Anyways, the pictures in this particular entry were taken yesterday in Kuala Terengganu where I had to attend a special interview for my future undertakings. Hence, the formal (boring) monocrome outfit in the pictures above. Right after the emotional and brain torture of the

Unselfish Way of Life, 57th Birthday and Pure Sacrifice

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. There are ways to shoo your sorrow away or dehighlight it, at the very least. Some unconsciously follow the stream while others fight like crazy, each with individual preference or reaction. Like, it depends on mood swing or something. But as to me, this world is not about and only about your own goodselves just as much as the fact that it doesn't only revolve around you. So, whatever turmoil you might be feeling inside, just try your mightest might not to spoil others' lives, especially that of your loved ones. That to me is the symbol of inner strength and maturity at its best. Having said that,  I urge you all to start less focusing on yourself but to those around you, on how you could make a difference, on how you could reach out and spread that little miracle of your smiles loves touches and tenderness. Anyways, I append herewith a few pictures taken yesterday, the first was early in the morning before going off to work and the rest after Isyak

I'll Be Home Tonight

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Yesterday I dressed up in a saree modern kurung that I had come to love so much but didn't have the time to have any picture snapped. Poor me, eh? But I did take a selfie early in the morning at my desk, though. Only that I can't share other than a glimpse of the exotic moss fabric and of course, the obvious shawl, sheer and inner.  Anyways, when I was in the car heading home from a foreign to my heart place later in the evening, I was accompanied by a song at the back of my head. It was Home by Michael Buble, which I have come to love a little bit too much over the years. Like, there's actually no place like home. Going home. Coming back home. And to be able to throw a sigh out of the grill when you're finally at the door and say, 'I'm HOME!' is precious, really. Here's Home for you to enjoy, another version that is also dear to my heart, by Blake Shelton.  Thanks so much for keep coming back. Love you loads! Till

A (Lesser) Packed Tuesday, Smart Casual Day

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. Today was a lesser packed day and I could actually lie down at home as early as 830pm. Alhamdulillah. And a very much blessed day, indeed for in between breakfast and early dinner there were two different friends took the trouble to literally drag me out to eat, knowing fully well how serious a workaholic I've been. And always tend to skip meals day in day out, for that matter. I felt so loved and told them so..  Anyhow, since I didn't have any scheduled meeting today I had the liberty to appear smart casual, which a bit hard to do these days of late. The cotton batwing oversized blouse really went well with the chiffon shawl, the belt and the skirt in my eyes. And. I felt so comfy in my entire outfit that I even managed to prepare some serious written submission with high spirit until 630pm. Gotta show some more love to such outfits, really. Time to shop some time soon...! ^_^ We never know what future holds, so enjoy and cherish what w

Thoughtful Tokens From Sister Azian Elias

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. This entry is specially meant to showcase what sis Azian Elias (YAN) had given me during our brief yet memorable get-together last week. So without further ado, here goes:  1- A silk shawl from Vietnam. The color is a darling, what more the fabric itself and I can't help falling in love with the shawl every minute of the day. I have no problem at all lining the shawl with a sheer underneath, for both fabrics are still very pleasantly smooth against my skin and cotton kurung. I used to have a hijab of very similar color back then when I was 16 years young and wore it for my first passport sized photos. Even used that photos for university application forms. So when I first saw this shawl that sis Yan has given me, I was so darn happy!  2- A pouch with embroidered bikini from Kashmir (or was it Vietnam, kinda forgot..) This one I'm planning to keep as it is and don't have the heart to use as a pouch. Not just yet, that is. Sayan

Juma'ah Barakah ~ Hold Your Heart.

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's the end of this tiring week, Alhamdulillah. Too much of a few hectic weeks, perhaps that I was at the edge of breaking down to tears by noon. I took an old-fashioned pie and a mug of hot latte at Starbucks with my sister who then drove me back to pray zuhur at the office before 2pm, quickly got ready to catch a meeting in Selayang at 2.30pm. I knew and had actually expected it was gonna be later than that but was still very much upset when I arrived there at 3.19pm, it was gonna be another hour waiting game! By then I was flat physically, drained emotionally that I felt a sudden hunger, anger, frustration and helplessness all at once. Upon which, I did the only other things possible then, i.e. Selfie  + Instagram + Facebook. Hence, the near tears troubled look of mine: Good thing was that the meeting was a success, Alhamdulillah. And I managed not to wear my feelings on my sleeves but rather handled everything quite handsomely, I'd sa

LOTD Post - Someone Is On Fire

Image
Assalamu'alaikum. It's almost the end of the week, another day went by in a blink of an eye. It is now Thursday, which means there would be one day left before Juma'ah smiles at our windows yet again.  And let us cherish each and every minute given by Allah the Almighty with utmost gratitude, ultimate praisal. This is (initially) supposed to be an LOTD post, by all means. Well, it still is, actually with slightly 'heavy' introduction. It was my outfit from early morning until night, approximately 9 am - 10 pm. The following picture(s) were taken right after I came back from the nearest mall to get us fresh mosquito sprays, thanks to my sister behind the camera. Or else I wouldn't have had the chance to get this LOTD entry done in the first place. Looking at the choice of colors, I think  I must have been on fire or something. Yeah, the spirit of a Bugis woman is sometimes hard to condone.  Anyways, the ensemble was: - Hijab : Madison, Su
