The Specky Me ~ From My Glasses

السلام عليكم

I've been wearing glasses since I was 13 years young. Donkey years ago, eh? Never forget a conversation I overheard in a visiting school dormitory where I went to compete in a debate team. I was 16 then.

Stranger A : I heard he's now with Nai.
Stranger B : This Nai, is she any pretty?
Stranger A : She wears spectacles!
Stranger B : Oh, No!

I was like, okay.....! Yeah, I've always been brought up with focusing on being smart. I was never accustomed to hearing people call me pretty. (Not until I went to Uni). But I was totally appalled to hearing the two strangers associated good looks with glasses? I mean, I didn't see any relevance there. And then it struck me, Oh My God! Glasses for others can make girls look ugly? Seriously? Okay, I knew why the two strangers didn't even make it to the 2nd round of the competition. Not because they didn't wear glasses, but because I did. Heheheh. If you know what I mean. *wink.

Then again, thanks to my parents for bringing me up the way that they did. Never once that I felt less normal because of my shortcoming, i.e. poor eye-sight. And never once that I ever judged beauty in one particular stringent way. That has made me who I am today. I guess total acceptance of my own self really helped me a lot through all those trouble years of sicknesses. And even now, I'm okay with the slight abnormal angle of my left eye even though I was born with absolutely normal eyes. Yeah, I would love to have everything back to normal again, but it's ok I guess if this is fated to last my lifetime. The fact that I can still see is Alhamdulillah, you know. So, even if there are mean people out there choose to attack me with such shortcoming, then they are the ones who should find peace in their own hearts.

So this is me, Nai.. who loves to see things at their brightest side possible. Everything is okay, everything is Tak Pe Je. If it's not okay, it's still okay for It's gonna be okay. To all girls out there who share the same shortcomings with me, how about counting our blessings and thank Allah for every little thing we sometimes take for granted. Embrace life with gratitude. See the universe from the lover's eyes. Make peace with your own selves. Like, yeah.. You've gotta wear glasses to see clearly, but love the glasses for making that possible. And if you go deeper into your thoughts, you'd be thanking the Creator who makes all that possible. Hence, be grateful for everything that we have and let's make this world a better place.

With that, I sign off. Thanks for reading, love you for that. Until next time, Sayonara. Much Love, Nai at Tak Pe Je with an entry label of DARI SPEK MATAKU, which means From My Glasses.

By the way, the guy they were talking about was my ex-bf, who has been my other half for 10 years now. He apparently saw more than the glasses in me, which made him different from the rest.

So this is goodbye. Take a good care of yourselves.

السلام عليكم
