Submission of Faith

السلا م عليكم

Dear friends, when I was so sad last two weeks, someone I know gave me a du'a. It was taught by the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w to Ummu Salamah (Hindun Binti Abu Umayyah) to soothe her grieving heart due to her beloved husband's death. Here goes :-

اللهم اجرني في مصيبتي واخلفني خيراً منها ( Allahumma Jurni Fi Musibati, Wa Akhlif Li Khairan Minha), which means: 'Oh Allah, grant me rewards for this unfortune and replace me with something better than that'

Rasulullah s.a.w gave the beautiful du'a to Ummu Salamah when she came to him asking for advice as to how to overcome her great sadness. Indeed she must have been so broken-hearted for her loss, no doubt. Her dearest husband and she had been the most romantic couple in their days. Their love and affection for each other was no secret to anybody then. She turned down the proposals from the prominent companions, Saidina Abu Bakar and Saidina Umar Radiallahu 'anhuma due to her undying love for her late husband. Eventhough she kept saying the du'a, she couldn't help wondering who could be better than Abu Salamah Bin Abdul Asad aal-Makhzumi? Then came the proposal from the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, which she refused at first. However, she later accepted it and got the answer for her continuous question.

To me, this du'a has by far helped me a great deal. The moment I started to read it, I felt a remarkable peace deep in my heart. Yes, I was so sad. I still am right now. Yet I know that Allah has given me this unfortune to give me more strength in this world. And I do have faith that He will give me something I deserve most rather than what I desire most.

And one more thing that keeps me going is the fact that my unborn children who were taken away too soon from me are safe in the Garden of Jannah. They will recognize me in the Hereafter and ask Allah's favor to bring me, their dad and brother alongside them. In the end, I chose to submit my heart and soul to the Creator of Heavens and Earth. What Comes From Him Shall Return To Him.

... Nai at Tak Pe Je.
